My story

Meet Bonnie

Hey there! I'm Bonnie, and I'm so glad you've found your way here. Pull up a chair, grab a cup of coffee (or tea, if that's more your style), and let me tell you a bit about myself and why I'm passionate about the work I do. First things first: I'm a licensed marriage and family therapist here in beautiful Utah. But more than that, I'm a human who's seen the impact of addiction and toxic relationships up close and personal. It's not just my job; it's my calling.
Picture this: A bright-eyed therapist (that's me!) working in inpatient and intensive outpatient drug treatment for over a decade. I thought I had it all figured out. Then life threw me a curveball, and addiction hit REALLY close to home. Talk about a wake-up call! It completely changed how I viewed addiction and recovery. Here's the thing: I realized that so much of the treatment world was missing the mark. We were treating individuals but forgetting about the families who were also struggling. It was like trying to solve a puzzle with half the pieces missing. So, I decided to change the game. Now, I'm all about bringing families into the healing process. No more stigma, no more fear, just real talk and practical tools to help everyone involved.
When I'm not in my therapist chair, you might find me:
• Hiking Utah's gorgeous trails (nothing beats that mountain air for clearing the mind)
• Buried nose-deep in a book (I'm a bit of a reading addict – the irony isn't lost on me!)
• Wielding power tools for my latest home remodeling project (who says therapy can't involve a little demolition?)
• Spending quality time with my family (they're my rock and my reality check)
My approach? It's all about harm reduction and meeting you where you are. No judgment, no shame – just support, understanding, and a healthy dose of "been there, done that" empathy. I've got a toolbox full of fancy techniques (EMDR, IFS, EFT – alphabet soup, anyone?), but what really matters is connecting with you and your unique story. Whether you're dealing with addiction in your family, recovering from a toxic relationship, or just trying to figure out this crazy thing called life, I'm here to walk alongside you. So, what do you say? Ready to roll up your sleeves and do some life-changing work together? Let's make it happen!
